Clients

Manage clients

Add clients, keep their details current, archive dormant relationships, and review the full timeline of invoices and contracts per client.

A client in Docz is the counterparty on invoices, contracts, and time entries. Keeping the client list clean makes the rest of the app tidy.

Add a client

From Clients → New, the minimum is name and email. Fill the rest when you need to — Docz will prompt you for missing fields when they matter (e.g. tax ID is only asked for when you first issue an invoice that needs one).

Useful optional fields:

  • Billing address — required by most tax jurisdictions on invoices
  • Tax ID — required for B2B invoicing in the EU/UK
  • Payment terms — overrides the account default for this client
  • Default currency — if you always invoice this client in a non-default currency
  • Hourly rate — default rate when billing tracked time

Client timeline

Open any client to see a chronological view of everything: invoices sent, payments received, contracts signed, time logged. Use this to answer "where are we with X?" without leaving the page.

Archive a client

When a client relationship ends, archive them rather than delete. The archive hides the client from new-invoice pickers and the main list, but keeps their history intact for tax and audit records.

Restore from Clients → Archived if they come back.

Deleting a client

Only delete a client if no invoices, contracts, or time entries exist for them — otherwise you break the audit trail. For active clients, archive instead.
